The grand Success of the first Interschool Sports Meet organized by ‘Prabodhan Goregaon’ in January 1979 laid the foundations of similar events to be arranged in the future. Though it was the first effort on the part of Prabodhan Goregaon to widen the sphere of activities, it won the hearts of the young participants, the school authorities and also the spectators whose cheering and clapping electrified the athletic events. The First ‘Sports Meet’ turned out to be a well organized and disciplined ‘Mini Olympic’ with 800 participants from 22 schools displaying their talents.
Goregaon has developed in to an important centre of cultural activities in suburbs. Prabodhan Goregaon has a keen desire to promote Athletics along with other sports in Goregaon in particular and in suburbs in general. The Inter School Sports Meet may be regarded as a step in that direction. Fortunately, Goregaon is bestowed with the unique gift of large playgrounds one of them being the Siddhartha Nagar playground which has been developed to its present beauty through the sincere efforts of Prabodhan Goregaon. |
